Voltage source inverters for batteryless off-grid applications (ENGN4200, taken for 2015)

Project Code: CECS_1066

This project is available at the following levels:
Engn4200, Engn R&D, Honours, Summer Scholar
Please note that this project is only for undergraduate students.

Keywords:

PV, power electronics, hardware, software, Arduino

Supervisor:

Dr Andrew Thomson

Outline:

Your project will build on one current project that is building a voltages-source inverter to supply 24 Vac up to 1 amp from a 250 W solar module. Depending on the results of the current project you will either re-design the current 250 W inverters system, or consider progressing the proto-typing.

Please email me directly to apply for student projects.

Goals of this project

Demonstrate a power inverter that can supply mains power (through a 10:1 transformer, in order to meet voltage safety standards).

Requirements/Prerequisites

Desirable skills:
a) Power electronics background
b) Programming
c) Experience with the Arduino platform
