Project-based learning

Project Code: CECS_1149

This project is available at the following levels:
Masters
Please note that this project is only for higher degree (postgraduate) applicants.

Keywords:

project-based learning, learning decision making

Supervisors:

Dr Lynette Johns-Boast
Assoc Professor Gerry Corrigan

Outline:

This project seeks to determine what decisions learners make about how they learn in a project-based learning (PrBL) environment and how best to represent these decisions so they provide a useful and detailed analysis of how learners approach their learning within a PrBL environment.

Goals of this project

To gain further and potentially more detailed insight into learning within a PrBL environment this research project seeks to ask:

1. To what extent do students make conscious decisions about how they synthesise, integrate and/or apply knowledge while actively engaged in PrBL?

2. What are these decisions?

3. When are these decisions made?

4. Why are they made?

5. How do these decisions, if made, fit into the overall picture of how a learner constructs their learning in a PrBL environment?

Student Gain

Develop and enhance skills related to: qualitative research methods; professional communication such as report writing and presentation skills.
